We recently ordered from China Chalet for catering for a family event. The fried rice and lo mein were very affordable, the walnut shrimp was crispy and sweet, and the ribs were so tender and flavorful. Everyone loved the food and kept going back for more. The presentation was great and the restaurant was accommodating. 5/5 highly recommend ordering if you need party trays for your event, especially if you need to feed a big group!

I popped in for lunch at 2:30pm and was warmly greeted by staff. I ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce lunch special with fried rice and hot and sour soup. It was delicious. Generous amounts of jumbo shrimp. This place has been here for decades and the quality is tops.

We want to have dinner last night, we have been to China chalet before, the food is good and the service has been ok. Last night however we had the rudest server we have ever experienced. He took our order, didn’t even give us a chance to order drinks or appetizers. My friend had asked if she could have plain fried rice with her order and he snapped at her saying NO!!! Like she was asking to have gold sprinkled onto her rice. When our food arrived he literally threw the plates onto the table. Still didn’t ask if we wanted anything to drink. We asked for soy sauce and some extra duck sauce. He walked away and came back with the soy sauce, slamming it on the take, then we made the mistake of reminding him about the duck sauce, he again snapped at us and said “ I told you wait “. Then came back a few minutes later with the sauce. None of us have ever experienced this kind of treatment from a server ever, it was almost as if he resented having to serve 3 women. A couple came in and were seated a booth over from us and his attitude was so different with them. It was a Jekyll and Hyde experience. I think from now on we’ll stick to take out from this place. Sad because there aren’t many nice Chinese (dine in) restaurants left in NY.
